AWARENESS TO DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
CHILDREN OUT THE STREET
The children in the streets of the Congo have been close to Pastor Shirandi’s heart for awhile. God has put in his heart the need to start a project to care for the street kids, to help them enter into their destiny and become who they are called to be. This project consists of providing food, a place to stay, mentorship and an education.
An estimated 30,000 children live on the streets of Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo. These kids have been subject to crimes such as stealing, prostitution, gang, child labour. The poverty and high rate of unemployment of the D.R.Congo have left many families unable to provide for their households therefore many children drop out of school and end up on the streets as “Shegues” as they are called.
Despite its wealth, the Democratic Republic of Congo is among the poorest countries in the world. The Congolese people have hardly experience any peace since the country gained its independence from Belgium in 1960. The civil war that broke out in 1998 has claimed the lives of an estimated 5.4 million Congolese and about 1.3 million people displaced in eastern Congo.
Through his organization Most High International Ministries, Pastor Shirandi Shamamba wishes to bring awareness about the needs of these kids and help them, one child at the time.
